Celebrating Pride Month With Pop’n’Olly!
By Louis Such
With pride month underway, we have decided to shine the spotlight on Pop'n’Olly and the work that they do for the LGBT+ community.
The brand was created by Olly Pike with the mission to combat LGBT+ prejudice before those ideas develop in children and young adults. With Pop’n’Olly becoming a success, others joined the cause to make the world a more inclusive place.
Pop’n’Olly first started out with a YouTube channel in early 2015 which now has 19.3k subscribers. There have been a variety of videos uploaded for the LGBT+ community including short stories such as ‘The Ice Queen and her Wife’ and educational videos such as ‘History of the Rainbow Flags for Kids’.
To further support their mission, Pop’N’Olly released children’s books which convey positive messages. Titles in the range include ‘The Prince and the Frog’ which is a story that aims to help children learn about same-sex relationships and ‘Kenny Lives with Erica and Martina’ which is a story that aims to teach children about equality, diversity and acceptance.
As well as these, Pop’n’Olly have released a non-fiction book titled ‘What Does LGBT+ Mean?’ This book is aimed at young adults and has been described as ‘a book that will make a big difference in the lives of countless young people’.
The team also provide a range of free resources that can be used both in school settings and at home. These resources include work/activity sheets, colouring pages and more!
It seems there is no stopping the Pop’n’Olly team as they have distributed over 20,000 books worldwide and regularly work with those in the targeted sector, including working with children/young adults in school settings or by working with charities with similar goals.
We here at CelebNews+ definitely can’t wait to see what Olly and his team get up to next and highly recommend you give them a follow on Instagram for LGBT+ information, facts, videos and more!
